Reaching the Silent Survivors

This interactive workshop uses a combination of poetry and art to explore how to best reach and support survivors silenced by prevailing rape myths. Specifically, the workshop focuses on how perceptions of gender serve to silence individuals who do not conform to traditional gender roles.  The presenter, Marta Sanchez, will facilitate discussion using “The Angel Series,” encouraging participants to consider how women, intesex people, trans people, and LGB populations are particularly affected by stereotypes regarding sexual violence. In a collective effort, participants will come up with solutions to the problem of reaching silent survivors, in order to further the goal of ending sexual violence.
