Genderfuck films and videos

This will be a program of short film and video work that brave the lines of gender identity and performance. Intrinsically queer, this program will feature new works by/for and about a lesbian gay bi trans community. I have been excited by work produced recently because of its serious playfulness, its directness and its embodied quality. This program will highlight work that clearly recognizes that our brains are part of our bodies no matter how messy and awkward that may be. If this proposal is accepted, I will put out a call for and a solicit works from a diverse range of makers from the Americas. All work will be in English or with English subtitles and the program will be 60-70minutes in length. My experience as a programmer, juror and print trafficker for a number of queer film festivals in the U.S. over the past 10 years, my work as a video maker and as a teacher provides me with access to a wide variety of networks of makers and distributors. I am interested in how sexuality and gender are performed across cultures and the ways we construct identities inside and out of the confines of our social/historical contexts.
